After quite lengthy searching of the web, and a visit to Halfords to compare different models, I purchased the Shogun Kogtana for my 13 year old son. The bike itself is extremely sturdy and eye catchingly “cool” and was a little larger than I’d imagined. It took me around an hour to assemble, which was just a case of fitting the saddle and the front wheel and then inflating the tyres. My only issue was was with the brakes which are vastly different than a conventional bike (due to the ability of the handle bars and front forks to be able to rotate through 360 degrees). Once the brakes were functioning it was just a case of making some minor adjustments to get them working effectively and anyone who has assembled a bike before shouldn’t struggle too much. The bike also comes with front and rear reflectors and a set of four steel stunt pegs which are easily fitted to the wheels.
All in all, for its price, I’d say this bike is one of the best available and at under £130 offers excellent value.
My son loved the look of this bike….great big stunt pegs, relatively light frame and distinctive black & white colouring. Unfortunately the thieves who broke into my garage also liked the look of it.
Anyway, because of the quality of the bike I bought another one and we are just as pleased with the new one. Admittedly it’s not the greatest BMX in the world but for an eight year old boy it is ideal. Easy to ride, looks good, excellent for tricks, you don’t see many around…all in all very good value for money.
Fab bike, easy to put together an vey very robust. Bought for our son’s 9th brithday, and he has used to do stunts, and all manner of bmx tricks, without mishapps other that a worn our tire from skidding!
What more can you want from a kids bike!
